''It is important to recognize that despite the pagan origins and overtones of what we call Christmas, Christmas time offers us a strategic opportunity to preserve Judeo Christian truths that have an enormous impact on our political and cultural systems. Those that want to destroy America are well aware of the power of symbolism in a psychological war.'' In Communist nations around the world they have systematically removed all references to the real meaning of Christmas, the birth of Jesus Christ, and even Hannukah. The scientific brainwashing technologies used by both Communist nations and so-called “free nations,” require that the individual perceives the State as God. Instead of individuals being what they truly are, which is the unique and independent children of God, their individuality is killed so they can serve the Collective. Thus in ancient Rome and in contemporary nations modeled after Rome, Caesar is worshipped as God.
When I was hosting a nationally syndicated radio talk show from Los Angeles, The Paul McGuire Show, which aired five days a week and three hours per day in afternoon drive time, I asked my listeners to specifically not shop in stores that would not use the words Christmas. In addition, I asked them to use the word “Merry Christmas,” whenever they were dealing with a retailer or waiting in line. I challenged my audience to remember that you have the power to choose which retailer to buy from and you should not spend your money in any store that wants you to spend money on Christmas, but then refuses to use the actual words Christmas. The words Happy Holidays just doesn’t cut it. What holiday or holy day? Christmas or Hannukah? But, if you want our money than you are going to have to use the words. The same goes for banks or any other institution you deal with.
Some people would call me and say, “Paul, why are you making such a big deal over the word Christmas? After all, Christmas is a pagan holiday and Christ was not even born on December 25th?” The questions were valid ones, but I explained to them that we are in a raging culture war and the enemies of Judeo Christian culture believe that it is imperative to remove all symbols and references to Christmas. The Communists have long ago understood the strategic importance of stripping a nation of all references to Christmas as part of their program of psychological warfare and mass brainwashing.
When the U.S. military went into Iraq, one of the first things it did was topple all statues of Saddam Hussein. This was covered globally on television and our military understood how vital this was in terms of the Psy Ops aspect of war. Why then are we as Christians or Jews so naïve as to the importance of symbolism? Symbolism is an essential part of psychological warfare. Hitler, Mao, Lenin and every other dictator in history understood this.
There is no question that Christmas is rooted in ancient pagan traditions and Jesus Christ was not born on December 25th. Historically, Christmas was not observed until the 5th century when the Western church ordered the feast to be celebrated on theday of the Mithraic rites of the birth of the sun and at the close of the Saturnalia. There was no actual definitive day known to the church, when Jesus Christ was born. The first time Christmas was designated to be marked on December 25th came in the second century. Unofficial Christmas celebrations began as a reaction to theRoman Saturnalia, which was a harvest festival that marked the winter solstice—the return of the sun, which honored Saturn, the Roman god of sowing. Saturnalia was a time of drunkenness and sexual revelry in 529 A.D. after Christianity was made the official state religion of the Roman Empire. Emperor Justinian made it an official holiday. By the medieval period it had become a time of drinking, sexual indulgence and partying of every kind and nothing to do with a celebration of the birth of Christ. In many ways, this is similar to the Christmas holidays of America where drinking and sexual promiscuity are indulged in at office parties and homes.
However, despite these pagan realities of Christmas which have carried over to our time, it is important to understand the strategic value of Christmas in our post-modern and post-Christian culture. For example, there are millions of school children who now have absolutely no idea about the real story of the birth of Jesus. When they stop and look at a manger scene, it is there first real introduction into the story of Christ’s birth. Again, militant secular humanists and Communists are hell-bent on making things like public manger scenes illegal. Why? Because, they, unlike many Christians understand that it is an effective means of communicating Christian truth. Their goal is to use the courts to erase even the memory of the birth of Christ from our culture.
